As the Earth nears completing full orbit around the sun, we can soon bid farewell, to the year 2020. And a heartfelt good riddance to it too! 2020 has been a very dark and stressful year. A year of great suffering. An endless black tunnel of despair and tragedy. Yet now, in its final days, a white light shines dimly in the distance. A light of Hope! Hope for better days to come. Hope that the madness is finally coming to and end.
Still for many, this passing year will not be easily forgotten. The Pandemic in its wake leaving many scars. Taking, many lives. Devastating, many families.
This years turning of a new year is not like the others. Cannot be celebrated, like the others. — Nor should it be! Perhaps instead, as the clock ticks past midnight signifying a new year, ‘reflection’ instead of celebration should be in our hearts.
Reflection, for those who have suffered. Are, still suffering. Financially, emotionally and tragically as in the loss of loved ones. And reflection, for the caring and courageous. For the Front-line workers, those who unselfishly give, facing the demon head-on with concerns only for the well-being of others.
Still, all is not lost! As father time inches his way closer to a new year, a new-found hope peaks over the horizon. Science blessing us with a weapon to slay the viral beast.
Now there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Yet the war is far from over. Suffering not yet, at an end.
So my friends, let us pledge on new years eve together. Not idle pledges of pursuing forgotten dreams or dropping bad habits. But Pledges of honor, to do our part, unite in cooperation and come together in strength to face what surely must be the pandemics final run.
But let us not wallow in complacency, for we have come to far and suffered too great to let our guard down now. No, this instead, is a time of urgency. A need for focus, purpose, and great unity in our cause.
For the time of slaying the beast is upon us!
Time to unite as one people, strike the head from the snake — and be done with it!
A new years resolution, for all Mankind!
Wishing you peace and comfort in the new year. And an unopposed resurgence of Hope!

Nice picture. The scythe in Grim Reaper’s hand has an unusually long blade. Hahaha, but whatever weapon he holds, he will be washed away with the sewage all the same.

Yep, the Reaper comes well equipped no doubt! Lol! Let’s just hope his seductions end, come the new year.

Pretty scary here Wayne. From the article: “When you’re dealing with a baseline of 200,000 new cases a day and about 2,000 deaths per day, with the hospitalizations over 120,000, we are really at a very critical point,” Fauci said. https://abc7chicago.com/us-covid-deaths-vaccine-coronavirus-cases/9123614/ And we still have a president attempting to over-throw the government and install himself as a fascist dictator.

Yep, you guys got it pretty bad there alright! I’m thinking though, with vaccinations on the way in and Trump on the way out — things can only get better here on in. Still, there’s a long way to go! Stay safe my friend!

Hi Wayne, ‘reflection’ instead of celebration should be in our hearts ❤
A few years back when I was in school, I pushed myself to remain awake till late at night on 31st December so that I would be studying when the new year arrives. My parents say that whatever you do on Jan 1, you tend to repeat it for the whole year. As a kid (well, I still can’t shake it off although I know it sounds silly!) I believed it. So, this time I am going to be happy and healthy, young and funny.
HAPPPPY New Year, my friend 🙂 Best wishes 🙂 🙂

Good stuff Nebula! Such a good story about sneaky parent philosophy. Still, we all know they do so out of love. But I’m glad that this year your going to do things your way. And Happy, Healthy, young and funny sounds like a real good plan! I wish you luck Divya! I hope you succeed! And all the best to you too my friend, in what ever you do in the coming new year!

Wonderful words Wayne! Taking stock of what’s happened. Reflecting on hard lessons. Defining the values we wish to live by. All should come before setting any goals. Wishing you an infinitely happier 2021 Wayne. Take it easy 🙏
