Politics, the political system, or perhaps more pointedly, politicians themselves have long-garnered the reputation as untrustworthy in the eyes of the general public. Having distrust in your political leaders is one thing, but accusations of negligence and incompetence of leadership during a pandemic crisis is quite another. Yet, with the alarming rate of infection ever-rising and death tolls climbing, fingers are being pointed at those in charge. Deep in the bowels below deck, the Captain’s leadership is being questioned.

Mankind is a great divider. Division of its own species a prime example as history so disturbingly shows. In this, the early stages of SARS-CoV-2 inoculation, yet another divide presents itself. Under the dark shadow of the pandemic, days of sunshine and lollipops are nowhere to be found. Dark and dreary our forecast, daily smiles dipping to an all-time low. As the Earth nears completing full orbit around the sun, we can soon bid farewell, to the year 2020. And a heartfelt good riddance to it too! 2020 has been a very dark and stressful year. A year of great suffering. An endless black tunnel of despair and tragedy. Yet now, in its final days, a white light shines dimly in the distance. A light of Hope! Hope for better days to come. In light of the pandemic, we were asked to shrink our traditional thanksgiving to in-house family only and this I did without complaint. After all, common logic dictates that we all must do our part in helping to reduce the spread of this virus. Yet the way things are going, it wouldn’t surprise me if Christmas Too will soon be on the restricted hit list.
